Securing Regular.li

The first roadblock to an app based attendance system is security and accuracy. Thus we innovated a few new ways to make sure your attendance is secure and accurate.

1>Using WIFI for Attendance Check In

onTime

Its a revolutionary idea to use something as simple as the WIFI ssid to authenticate the users location while checking in. Read more on how.

What is WIFI SSID?

An SSID is a unique ID that consists of 32 characters and is used for naming wireless networks
Every wifi device broadcasts its SSID, which is what we see when connecting to the network.
What we have developed is really simple. If your phone is connected to a Wifi which is in your office, it means your inside the office. So when checking in everyday, when you click on the check in button it checks your wifi ssid and matches it with your company’s Wifi ssid and lets you check in!

Every modern phone has an inbuilt GPS chip. Its really useful for navigation or apps which use location.
A way of making sure that you are really inside the office or designated area when checking in, is to make sure that your GPS position matches with the designated position. Using Geopositioning Satellites the Regular.li app matches your location and makes sure your inside while checking in.

3>PhotoID

Taking a selfie is fun. Everyday when users are checking in we let them take a selfie. That way we can keep an image for everyday, incase we need to verify the attendance later on. This image can be easily seen in the admin reports.

There has been some ideas from the team, some suggest that we can do a monthly morph of the images and send them to the users. It will be fun! Lets see how it turns out!
